"Hearing precedes knowing."----Sri Sri Babathakur
Sri Sri Babathakur the tattvabetta, says that to know something you have to hear about it first. That is why in the vedic age, He says, the supreme knowledge or the vedas, were told by the direct experience rs of the vedas the Hrisis or the Seers to their children and the ashramites who approached the Hrisis very humbly and solemnly to quench their thirst for true knowledge, the vedas. Through the course of daily hearing followed by sincere contemplation on the words heard, the ashramites(pupils)could knew the vedas which is the subtle most knowledge. That is why the vedas are known as shruti vidya or only shrutis(that which is known through hearing only.)
In this present time too, we see that the sayings of His Holiness Sri Sri Babathakur holds equally good. Among the five senses which are practically the five gateways of knowledge the audible one is the best.
This is because today also Sri Sri Babathakur the tattvabetta(a very very rare incarnation of the Divine which is authorized to cater tattva, in English the knowledge of knowledge or the knowledge of reality and not relativity; namely Sri Sri Basista Deva, Sri Sri Krishna, Sri Sri Astabakra Muni, Hrisi Dattatreya, Acharya Shankar, Sri Sri Tyilanga Swami)who is still in his mortal frame is catering the same knowledge of knowledge, the vedas, which is the subtle most among knowledge s, to a few blessed people who happened to come in contact with Him by virtue of their past good deeds.
